          Description
          The Bilco Classic Series Primed Steel Basement Door allows for the transport of large items, such as a pool table or heavy furniture, into the basement. The Bilco Doors are designed to be anchored directly to masonry areas and should never be installed over pressure-treated or cedar-treated lumber. These Basement doors are easy to operate with gas spring lift assist, allowing for smooth, easy one-handed operation and preventing the doors from slamming shut. The gas spring is located inside the door, and should be installed with the black end up and the silver end down. Bilco's Classic Series basement doors provide a weathertight seal that repels water, keeps the area dry and free of debris, and prevents binding due to ice and snow.

          Primed Steel Doors must be painted within forty-five (45) days of installation. Bilco recommends using Sherwin-Williams All Surface Enamel A11 Series in a white or light color. For best results, carefully follow the directions on the Sherwin-Williams label and apply one thin coat of paint followed by a second coat on both the exterior and interior primed steel surfaces of the door. Two quarts should be sufficient to coat the entire door.
